Energy Histories, Energy Futures is a new course offered through Community Ed at Linn Benton Community College. The course will cover the history of energy systems in the Pacific Northwest, current issues, and possible futures. We will talk about energy transitions through human history, how humans used energy before energy industries in the PNW, the construction and impacts of our dam system, how to keep up with and speak out on current energy issues in the region, and more. The aim of the course is to make people in our community more prepared to participate in design and decision making for our energy futures. The course covers energy from the logistical to the philosophical, while offering readings, creative opportunities, and lectures by OSU-grad Ali Trueworthy, who has both a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering and an M.A. from the Environmental Arts and Humanities program.
