The Visibility Brigade’s Chalk Team writes event announcements and messages for the pro-democracy movement in high-traffic areas on public sidewalks and plazas in Corvallis. No artistic talent required—if you can hold a piece of chalk and get down on your hands and knees, you can participate. The Corvallis Singing Resistance sings publicly in the streets for the sake of solace, strength, solidarity, to voice our dissent, and to refuse cooperation with oppressive and autocratic forces. You don’t need to know the words to these songs, as they will be taught and they are easy to learn. 5 Calls makes it easy for you to reach your members of Congress and make your voice heard. They research issues, write clearly articulated scripts, figure out the most influential decision-makers, and collect phone numbers for their offices. All you have to do is call. Select the issues that are important to you, like “Fight the Trump Administration’s Election Interference”, “Protect Our Public Lands”, “Abolish ICE”, or “End the War with Iran”.

If your Members of Congress support your stance, you need to let them know! When they talk to colleagues, they use call tallies and personal stories from constituents to better support their positions. If you oppose or don’t know their stance, calling is the easiest way to sway them! Your congressperson gets regular call tally reports, letting them know how strongly their constituents feel about an issue.

Did you know that more than 20% of constituents never contact their elected officials? Resistbot is a tool that turns your texts into faxes, postal mail, or emails to your representatives in minutes. Sign one of the ongoing letters or write your own. You will receive a text asking to confirm the letter you are signing and prompts to choose how you want it to be delivered.

Indivisible Benton County is now using the Signal app to send special mobilization announcements. Download the free Signal app from your device’s App Store or from signal.org, and follow the prompts. Once you have a Signal account, use this link to join our Announcements chat, so you hear about special events and receive key information in real time!

Signal will allow us to securely send messages more efficiently than email. Only a few chat administrators can send messages, so only essential info will be posted. We’ll have a table at upcoming meetings where someone can assist you if you need help setting up your account.
