Support Corvallis City Council Resolution on Ethical Investment!

Hello Friends,
We are asking our neighbors to support our submitted resolution on ethical investment, called “A RESOLUTION PROHIBITING INVESTMENT IN GENOCIDE, APARTHEID, AND ILLEGAL OCCUPATION, MASS DEPORTATION AND MASS INCARCERATION”!
Please let your Corvallis City Councilors know that as Corvallis residents, we do not want Corvallis to invest in or profit from companies “who are directly, consistently, and knowingly involved in violations of human rights, such as genocide, apartheid, and illegal occupation, as well as other violations of international human rights law, including war crimes, ethnic cleansing, mass incarceration, and mass deportations.”
We see this resolution as strengthening the framework for Corvallis’ ethical investing going forward. We do not want Corvallis to support the industry of profiting off of severe human rights violations. We believe our government should protect human rights.
Please contact your Corvallis City Councilors by going to https://forms.corvallisoregon.gov/Forms/M-CC_PublicInput or by emailing [email protected] to support the submitted resolution on ethical investment.
If you would also like to speak in favor of the resolution at the next city council meeting, you can register to do so at https://forms.corvallisoregon.gov/Forms/M-CC_PublicInput and selecting “oral comment registration”.
We anticipate that the Corvallis City Council will likely be voting on the resolution within the next month, so we encourage folks to write in between now and the next 2 council meetings on October 6th and October 20th, and we encourage folks to show up to those two meetings to show your support for human rights at the city level.
Please read the attached Resolution, and please feel free to contact us at [email protected] to learn more, or get ideas on how to maximize your testimony’s reach.
