ICE activity in Corvallis – one person taken.

The abduction took place by ICE on Sept. 3,  7:30 a.m. in a residential neighborhood of NW Division Street. The partner of the man taken, a 31-year-old Corvallis resident, believed he was being kidnapped and reported it to the Corvallis Police Department. The call was initially dispatched as a possible kidnapping; later the CPD verified that it was an ICE operation. A family member said the man is being held at an ICE detention center in Tacoma, WA. An ICE spokesperson said that the arrested man “is representative of millions of unvetted, criminal illegal aliens in our communities across the United States.” (The Gazette Times)

The crime?  A prior conviction for domestic violence menacing. The type that 21.2% of US cops commit, according to a study published in the Journal of Aggression and Violent Behavior. Another study shows that officers perpetrate domestic violence at a higher rate than the general population, 28% versus 16%, respectively.

West Coast Governors form the West Coast Health Alliance. Hawaii joins the coalition.

Oregon governor Tina Kotek joined governors Gavin Newsom (CA) and Bob Ferguson (WA) in creating the West Coast Health Alliance, aimed at safeguarding access to vaccines. In a press conference they stated that the CDC had become a political tool that increasingly peddles ideology instead of science and that Trump’s mass firing of CDC doctors and scientists is a direct assault on the health and safety of the American people. “Our communities deserve clear and transparent communication about vaccines—communication grounded in science, not ideology,” they said in an interview, while measles cases continue climbing (AP, The Guardian, Wikipedia, Powers Health).  Hawaii later joined the other three states.
