No Kings Day Debrief

With the national estimated turnout between 5-14 million nonviolent protestors across all 50 states (not even counting international rallies and those who attended in spirit) for No Kings Day, the movement is growing at historic levels! This one day of protest is likely the largest protest seen in the United States.

In Corvallis, an estimate of over 7,000 community members (~11.5% of the town’s population) mobilized on this day to exercise their First Amendment Rights and demand a better government, a better future for all. This has been Benton County’s biggest rally so far, and although our work is not yet over, we can take a moment to breathe and celebrate the incredible success of a record-breaking Day of Defiance.

Thank you to all of you, for peacefully showing up, speaking out, and taking a stand to defend our democracy and affect positive change. Whether by attending rallies, honking supportively, volunteering, contacting representatives, staying informed, creating art, or anything in between, every action matters. Every person matters. Every voice makes a difference.
Thank you to our co-host partners, who have also helped to organize and facilitate this (and previous) successful rally for Democracy: SURJ, Third Act, and Progressive Democrats of America.
Special shoutout to our volunteers, who dedicated their time, energy, and talents to ensure smooth operations before, during, and after No Kings Day.

We would not have been able to have this event without the community showing up and stepping out. We had over 100 volunteers that signed up or showed up to help put this event together. Their service, talents, and commitment to our community was on full display that day. Out of abundance of caution and respect for their privacy, we have elected not to name them in this email.

Thank you to all participants and collaborators that created such a safe, joyful, and empowering space for thousands in the community to peacefully rally and shout out, loud and clear: No Kings In America!
